just HOW little is the little one?

2:12 am. i wake up. it's way too quiet for a first night with bunnies in their new home.

i go to the living room and ease up the dimmer switch and find the big one sitting quietly, paws tucked under her chest, all ALONE in the big big cage. the little one is not there. NOT THERE??

i am still asleep. the cage door is locked. surely i am hallucinating. no, the little one is really, really not there. in fact, she's nowhere to be seen. or heard. but there is a tiny wet spot on the floor outside the cage. ah-ha!

i start to look. i do not find her anywhere. there are exposed cords about, doors open. we're not bunnyproofed yet! crap! hub hears me moving furniture, wakes up and starts to look and of course, finds her right away. next to a neat pile of bunny poop [remember: dry, odorless], she's huddled in the corner by the big floor lamp.

somehow, little missy squeezed herself through the bars. now scroll down and look at the picture of her and the bars of the cage. i tried to put my hand through the bars and it won't fit [and though i'm not a tiny lassie, my hands are small]. i don't know how she did it, but she had to spend the rest of the night in the travel carrier so we wouldn't have to worry about her strangling herself, trying to get through again. hub has since rigged the cage with subterfuge and it seems to be working. no further escape attempts today.

i said the little one would be trouble, didn't i? bunnyproofing commences in earnest this evening after work.

Comments:
Obviously her name has to be Houdini.

Wow! How crazy is that! Good luck keeping her in a cage!

The buns are so cute! Yay Buns! It was really nice to meet you on the cruise, my friend and I had a wonderful time.

You know, we had a similar problem with our dog. 45lbs, she is, so we didn't think anything about the 6" gap under the gate to our yard. Till one day she was on the other side of it, and we couldn't figure out how. We've since lowered the gate. Have fun with those two!

Naughty bunnies are the best kind. Did I ever tell you about the time one headbutted my dachshund off the couch?

Oh, so cute! Congratulations!

I am so glad you are going to love another bunn(ies)! They are adorable. I wish you many happy years with them. My rex gets out now and then, and always makes a bee-line for the cat box : / they are so weird.

Yeah, bunny proofing. Try bunny proofing an office. All those phones and comupters and all their cords! And Harold can always find a way through just about anything. The harder I try to block off an area, the more interested he is. I finally put a bell collar on him, and found that when I let him out he usually hunkers down in a favorite corner and I can hear it when he's up to somethin'.

I once had a foster bunny who ended up named Clair, after a famous Australian escape artist, because she could get out of just about anything. Just remember, pairs are great fun -- one can distract you with her cuteness while the other gets into something.

How about naming her Loki for the God of Mischief...Is there a goddess of mischief? Off to google

Our puppy (now 2 years old, but ohhhh too puppy like still) is named Lucy. My version of female for Lucifer aka the devil! Man, is she full of it. I'm on couch and chair numbers 2 because she ate the other ones! lol She's a keeper though. Gotta love um!

Very sneaky bunny. They are so cute though! Love the picture of them sharing the leaf.

So glad that you're okay. I can't believe how cute those buns are. Makes me want another after all of these years. For now, I'd better stick to the two guinea pigs.

Ah those bunnies sure are tricksy...but luckily easier to find than hamsters.

Your pics are making me want a bunny. I haven't had one since high school. Back then, the parents used to have a small terrier dog. He was too funny--I think he truly believed the bunny was an oddly-shaped dog. He would follow it around the house and lick its face. Too cute!

Oh, the sweetness of it all!!! Mazel tov to you and Hub on the new additions to your household. They're beautiful. Good luck with the bunnyproofing. Glad the cruise was so good! Sorry I missed you in nyc.

Hey, have you read Stitchy McYarnpants' latest post? Maybe your little bunnies need you to knit them each this dress. http://209.17.131.1/craft/dress.htm

What a sneaky little girl! I'm sure she knew EXACTLY what she was up to, too. Great seeing you on the cruise, btw.

Hope that you are fine now. I'm looking forward to your next blog.
