stupid eBay tricks

I slipped.

I'd been eyeing cheap white docs, but the shipping made them less cheap. Then I thought about white...who wants white boots, even if they're graffiti'd all over? And while I was thinking that, I stumbled on these. Which I won, thanks to a sniping service [bidnapper.com] while I was at LK this evening. $44. Oh my god.

Mint green patent leather. Old enough to still have been made in England [which, from reading the reviews of current Docs on amazon.com, is a serious consideration -- the new asian-made ones supposedly are not even close to the quality of the old Brits] and barely worn. Lots of pictures in the auction, and I didn't see any wear except that little scuff on the side of the heel.

Will they fit? I think so, but won't be sure till they're here. But with mint green patent leather Docs to wear on my pale green scooter, something tells me I'll MAKE them fit, if it comes to that.

The real question is...what color and pattern of socks are you going to make to wear with them? If they're mint green, I'd have to vote for some chocolate chip!

The great thing is if they're too big you wear thick socks, and if they're too small you can just trim a bit of your toes off.

Those are the best boots eveh! It feels like the 80's all over again. Doc Martins and Vespas - is your next piece of attire going to be a trench coat? :)

Brown socks would look so good with those!

This bleep is bananas! B A N A N A S! Those are the you know what. Rock on sister friend. And you're right - I was in London for a month in 94 and bought some real-deal Docs there and they were the real deal. They lasted forever.

you probably won't believe me, but i had a pair of these once... that i got for $8 at marshalls, one of those designer discount stores. (i also had a pair of docs that were a white fishnet like material with silver glitter in all the holes, also bought for under $20)... now if only i had the scooter to match. :) hehe.

i'm sure that if no one has told you already, you still have done enough research to know that they've got to be worn in, right? just be careful with that - it can be a bit of a painful process! :)

Whoops, hit return a bit too early - I myself am the owner of fabulous silver lame leather DMs as well as a mis-matched floral pair. I went to a B-52s concert this summer and tarted my bad self up in jeans and silver docs and a silver lame shirt. Three guys hit on me, so I can't have looked too silly!

OMG, I got a bike a few months ago, and saw boots that, well, they holla!

Thanks for the tip! I was in Toronto yesterday and visited T&T and got out before the traffic seized up with the bomb parade. It was all you said it would be. Loved it. Did you see the Vespa piece in the Globe today re: Tara Slone?

Oh my goodness oh my goodness. I am the lame one. I am just catching up on a whole month of entries, somehow having the whole family home 24 hrs a day makes me not have time for anything at all; but summer vacation is almost over and kids and hubby, who is a teacher, will be back at school on Wednesday.
I guess this is a rather long preamble for saying I am sorry I had no idea that you had to have surgery. But I am glad to hear that it went well, all things considered. Do be careful with the fatty foods though. :)

Those boots are amazing! Love them, love them. I bought a pair of crocs the other day simply because they are made in Canada! Yay.

One of the best decisions I ever made was brought about by my friend Heather Swain, aka The Queen of Rationalization (she even has the sash). She specifically arranged the ride she gave me to the Edmonton airport to have time to stop at Gravity Pope (the country's best shoe store, seriously) to pick up this pair of Thrills Gum purple Docs that I had ogled the day before. She had a long list of very good rationalizations, but it amounted to the fact that I have something I love and wear lots that's unique, really, rilly me, and I never fail to think of - and thank - her when I wear them.

You rock on with your mint green self. Massimo will be well pleased.
