oh. my.

Look where I am!

Okay, I'm not there now, but I was there this afternoon. The Tucson Desert Museum. This was taken out the car window [!] on the way there.

Want more? Here you go.

For those not following the Twitter storyline, here's what's happened since I last wrote.

- Was in transit from Toronto to Tucson, via LAX for 14 hours.
- My luggage decided it didn't want to go. I was wearing the same clothing for the first two days [though I was able to wash the stuff overnight so it wasn't ewwww]
- Taught a full day Plug & Play Shawl Design class without my swatches [see point above] and having to reprint all the class handouts [again, see above]. It went well, despite that.
- Luggage arrived last night. Have been wearing new clothing ever since. Happy.
- Temporarily lost my wallet/iPhone/everything when I got distracted by hummingbirds at the Desert Museum and put down my wrist-strap purse.
- Ran off the calories I would later consume in buttery homemade tortilla chips [SO GOOD you don't want to know] trying to find it.
- Grateful to the person who found it right away and brought it to the admin office, so I wasn't without my essentials for very long.

So that about catches you up. Highlights for the next few days:

- I get to meet the Tucson Handweavers and Spinners Guild tomorrow for lunch!
- I get to visit a store that stocks Flax Clothing in my size and maybe even buy some. I survived last summer thanks to the beauty of their easy and relaxed linen clothing.
- I get to visit a store that carries ukuleles! Just because I can! And because the flute fund still has a little balance in it. You know.

Hope you all are well! I have something really cool to share with you, but I'll save that for another post.

Ha! I love that you lost your wallet due to a hummingbird distraction! (I understand, they're fascinating). Love even more that you found it again! Safe and glitch-free travels from now on, please!

Are you staying at the Hotel Congress? Well worth a visit, even if you're not. It's wonderful. Also, if you haven't made it to Cafe Poca Cosa, I urge you to try to fit it in. Soooooo great! I hope you enjoy the rest of your trip. Safe travels!

Paul Gross doesn't even merit a mention?! ;)

Glad you're having fun! Send some of that warmth up here, eh?

The Desert Museum is fabulous! Have fun and soak up the warmth.

Amy, having family from Tucson and lived there for several years, I hope you enjoy yourself and don't get too cold. My mother in law says it's down right chilly and she was wearing a sweater to work. If you get to eat, and are not a vegetarian, GO TO PATS!!!!!! It is such a dive but they serve the BEST chili dogs in the world! You won't regret it (and their greasy french fries, yummmmm). Enjoy.

I love the Desert Museum, although I haven't been there since I was a kid. I didn't like having to go over Gates Pass to get there. We went on a school field trip and the bus on that pass scared me.

I just got back from Tucson and loved it! The Desert Museum was great and I also enjoyed the Botanical Gardens. They have a really fun butterfly exhibit going on now, you should check it out!

I just got back from Tucson and I loved it! My favorite part is seeing all of the plant life, much of which grows (almost) no where else. Also, the weather was so nice this past weekend - nice and cool.

You were in one of my favorite places, Amy. The hummingbird aviary is unbelievable. I also like the javelina run, but that's just me. I hope your lecture at St. Philips goes well.

If there is any time, visit Tohono Chul Gardens. It's a natural desert garden set in the northside. Very peaceful. I grew up in the foothills before all the development. We used to feed roadrunners from our porch and watch the javelinas feed in the wash.

I saw the photo and I knew in a heartbeat -- She's on the west side of Tucson!

Just reading everyone's comments has made me homesick for place I've not lived in for lo, 15 years! Tohono Chul, Botanical Gardens, St. Philip's in the Hills, the Hotel Con (are they still running Disco Monday nights??) -- Too bad I didn't see this earlier -- I would've recommended not just Poca Cosa, but also El Nidito for some real down-home comfort food!

Didja happen to see any baby coyotes chasing quail at sunset? Didja?

(funny how my post has nothing to do with knitting...)
