Knitty yarn preview 2

I promised you Uruguayan yummies last week, and here they are.

What is this stuff? It's Rio de la Plata yarn, made in Uruguay. According to the newsletter they sent me, the company's been around since last year. They have a new Candian distributor too [Nordic Imports], so I expect you'll start to see this yummy stuff at your LYS soon.

It's really lovely stuff and seems like a close relative of Malabrigo or Manos. In terms of softness, you'll have to fondle it yourself. I'm hardly an expert on the softness of wool.

Specs: 140-164 yards per hank, 14-16 sts/4", US #9/10 needle. Comes in solid, faded, multi-color, merino, twists, artista, melange solid and melange multi.
