amy's Tivo watch

finally getting Tivo in our Canadian house [you may remember the significant rejoicing] means i can load up my season pass with all the new series i want to test drive, instead of missing key first episodes and then having to scramble to catch up later.

having a blog means i get to sound off about them here. unlike other more seasoned TV bloggers, there will be no in-depth coverage. instead, i thought i'd tell you which were on the season pass and how long they get to stay. it's a whim. humor me.

to categorize my tv tastes, here are my key favorites from previous season[s]:
- Lost [anything JJ Abrams does I love without question]
- Grey's Anatomy [please.]
- House [deeeep love.]
- America's Next Top Model [shush, you]
- Project Runway [almost cerebral compared to ANTM, yet so enjoyable in a very grade-10 way]

first show's season pass to get killed from Tivo last spring:
- Desperate Housewives [started out kitschy, but became unbearably painful to watch mid-season. buh-bye.]

This season's additions:
Men in Trees [clearly a Northern Exposure clone, but since i adored NX, this isn't a bad thing]
Jericho [Lost ripoff? could be.]
Brothers & Sisters [i expect this to be the first casualty of the season -- looks quite overwrought. do i need this much stress from someone else's family? but it's nice to see calista not so bony. i'll give it a shot.]
Ugly Betty [too silly?]
Six Degrees [more JJ Abrams!]
Standoff [just keep Burger away from the postits]
The Nine [i can't resist a good teaser line]

Okay. I had Shark on there, but bailed before recording an episode.

Have seen two shows so far. Summary:
Men in trees: absolutely an NX clone, mixed up and 10 years later, and very very watchable. despite my concerns about Anne Heche being cast as the vixen a whole town of men wants [have we forgotten the post-DeGeneres thing?], she really is a lovely leading lady. two episodes watched. deeply fond. season pass continues.

Six degrees: not as engaging as i expected, and definitely not another Lost or Alias. Still, the characters are likeable enough and except for the downward spiral Damian storyline [i hate those], i'm looking forward to what happens next to them. also, Campbell Scott? So so good. one episode watched. intrigued. season pass continues.

also...when did i become ABC's target demographic? interesting.
