INTRODUCTION

Liberty

beauty shot

Piquant

Great, showy cables mingle with stockinette stitch in this fun-to-knit pullover sweater. You have the liberty to adjust the length of the neckline to make a variety of crewnecks as well as turtlenecks. Gentle body shaping and set-in sleeves give this traditional style a contemporary appeal.

Liberty is worked flat from the bottom up in pieces, and then seamed. The ribbed neckband can be worked to different lengths depending on the desired effect.

PATTERN NOTES

[Knitty's list of standard abbreviations and techniques can be found here.]

Place a stitch marker between cable patterns for easier knitting.

Edge stitches (ES) are used to facilitate smoother seaming; knit ES on every row. Edge stitches are reflected in stitch count.charts

Body shaping decreases are worked on each side of cable patterns in St st. They can be worked at the beg and end of row instead if desired.

Sleeve cuff gauge is 22 sts/28 rows = 4 inches/10 cm in double rib. Go down one needle size for a snugger cuff.

Patterns are charted. Work odd numbered rows as right side (RS) rows and read chart from right to left. Work even numbered rows as wrong side (WS) rows and read from left to right.
